The newly elected President General of Ufuma community in
Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra state Sir Basil Onwunze has
bewailed the poor state of power supply which he claimed had left the people of
ufuma in darknes for more than 3 years.
The PG-ELECT while stating this in a chat with our
correspondent after he was announced the winner of the election which ushered
him in as the new leader of Ufuma Development Union (UDU) used the opportunity
to call on government and ministries responsible for electricity distribution
in the area to review the power problems in Ufuma community.
Sir Basil complained that the absence of light and other
social infrastructural development in the town has attenuated and staled
development and other economic growth in the area.
While reviewing his manifesto the newly elected president
general revealed that the town of Ufuma had been in dispute for a very long
time but promised to work closely with the newly constituted executives in
other to proffer lasting peace in the area.
His words “during my campaign I promised my people that I will restore peace
and bring unity to our town Ufuma because over the years we have lost so much
because we had no peace and unity hence we are unable to speak and agree with one voice.
“I must fulfill that promise by working with my team to reconcile
all aggrieved persons in Ufuma. We have lost so much because of our disagreeable
nature so one of my intentions for running for this position is to broker peace
among all Ufuma indigenes.”
He maintained that the town will under his watch work with
the government of Chief Willie Obiano with the aim of attracting government
developments especially in the area of agriculture as the town is blessed with
large land mass which could employ and engage thousands of youths and women if
adequately utilized.
He thanked the good people of Ufuma for their support and
assured he will not betray the trust reposed on him by making sure he executes
all his campaign promises even as he urged them to collaborate with his led
executives in the development of the town.
