Anambra state House of Assembly has condemned the proliferation of illegal structures in the state. The lawmakers made the condemnation in a motion during their plenary session in Awka.
In the motion which was presented by the member representing
Njikoka two constituency, Hon Peter Ibida, the lawmaker urged the state
governor, Chief Willie Obiano to direct the Anambra State Urban Development Board
(ASUDEB) to take proactive measures in ensuring that structures were approved
and properly constructed.
In his submission Hon Ibida was of the opinion that a
situation where structures where erected at unapproved areas were unaccepted as
they contributed to the increasing flood cases in the state.
In a contribution the member representing Anaocha one
constituency, Mr Francis Okoye called on the officials of ASUDEB to live up to
their responsibility and ensure proper planning of the erection of structures
to give the state a good look
Meanwhile, the bill to provide for full integration of
persons who are physically challenged has passed second reading. The bill
according to the lawmaker is timely, as it seeks to create equality, where
there is an inequality.
While calling for the speedy passage of the bill, the lawmaker
agreed that the physically challenged persons who ordinarily felt neglected,
sidelined and uncared-for, would not only feel loved but fully integrated in
the society
