Journalist vindicated on Aniekan Umanah’s plot to blackmail DSS

By Comrade Idongesit Okpon
Online journalist and public affairs commentator, Engineer Kathlene Ekpenyong has been vindicated in her expose that Aniekan Umanah, Akwa Ibom State commissioner for information, was plotting to blackmail the Directorate of State Services (DSS) in a deliberate false publication in the mass media in
retaliation for the agency's recent security operation in Uyo. In a last minute attempt at damage control after the plot leaked to the public, Aniekan Umanah ordered "stop press" on the anti-DSS false publication and forced the media houses in Uyo and Lagos that were paid to carry the story to drop it.
But it was too late for the information commissioner to stop his boys such as Essien Ndueso and Inibehe Udosen who were asked to publicise the false story on the internet. The false publication went online last night before it could be stopped. However, in a fake denial last night shortly after the story went live, Aniekan Umana said he had nothing to do with the false publication which is still running online and is even being reposted by many of his boys.
There are a couple of take home points worth noting about the DSS blackmail story. Aniekan Umanah, on behalf of the Udom Emmanuel administration,is peddling falsehood to blackmail the DSS. In accepting this role of agent provocateur, Aniekan Umanah would do well to consider the fact that every action attracts equal and opposite reaction. PDP propagandists should note this fact because they would howl in protest at "DSS harassment" if the security agency were to invite Aniekan Umanah to show proof of his allegation that the DSS was not on a legitimate duty to nib a security threat in the bud during their raid on the Akwa Ibom state government guest houses, but were rather on a political witch hunt at the behest of Mr Umana Okon Umana.
I hope Aniekan Umanah has armed himself with proof that the DSS were in Uyo to do the personal bidding of Umana Okon Umana.
We need to ask the Udom Emmanuel administration some questions about the security raid in Uyo:
1. Was Umana Okon Umana behind the conversion of the Government House, Uyo into an arms depot and a vault for looted funds, so as to deserve their doomed effort to blame him for their woes?
2. Have they forgotten so soon that they had said that Umana could not even pay his lawyers at the tribunal, alleging that unsettled legal fees had made Umana's lead counsel to physically fight him?
3. Have they also forgotten that they had alleged that Umana is an abandoned and hopeless politician who nobody was prepared to touch even with a long pole?
4. Where would a man that they had so described get the resources from to take over a government agency and order it to do his bidding?
The Akwa Ibom State PDP and the Udom Emmanuel administration had better stop looking for a scapegoat for their self-inflicted wounds. No one else but they themselves are behind their woes. When they stockpiled arms in the government house and filled up a room with stolen dollars—speculated for use in a planned insurrection against the federal government—they ought to have known that Big Brother was watching them
