Anambra Government Set to Transform State to World Tourist Center

The Government of Anambra state has unveiled plans to turn the state to a foremost tourist center in the world. This move is necessitated by the fact that the state is tremendously endowed with many beautiful and fascinating natural sites which when developed have potentials of turning the state to a tourism hub.
The plan to make the state the center of tourist attraction was made known to newsmen by the state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon Barr Uju Nwogu during her thanksgiving mass celebration at St Andrews Catholic Church, Adazi nnukwu, Anaocha Local Government Area. She said that Gov Obiano who is keen on developing culture and tourism in the state has approved the commencement of children carnival which will take place on the 29th of October 2015

She explained the children carnival to be a platform where the culture and tradition of Anambra are taught and inculcated in the young ones in other to revamp the dwindling cultural heritage of Ndi igbo among the children.
Her words “Our culture is gradually creeping away and something needs to be done about it, that is why the government through the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism has decided to hold a cultural carnival for the children of the state.”
“This festival which will be holding this month end is aimed at inculcating the rich culture of Ndi igbo into the children. We will also ensure that henceforth Anambra will participate in the cultural festival that usually takes place in Abuja” She expounded
On tourism, the commissioner noted that Anambra state had the best natural tourist attractions in Nigeria and the government had concluded plans to develop the various tourist sites in the state, in other to maximize its potentials. She noted that tourism would thrive well in the state because of Governor Obiano’s zero tolerance to crime which has resulted to the peace and tranquility currently enjoyed in all the communities of the state.
Barr Nwogu further called on the private sector to partner in developing and managing the different tourist sites in the state as she noted that their involvement will help make the vision of transforming the state to a world tourist center achievable within a short period of time.

“We have various tourist sites in Anambra state and his Excellency is determined to develop the state tourism sector. So I call on private persons to partner with government to develop these sites. With their partnership we are sure of achieving our goal and making the state a center of tourism.”
“We have so many sites which we want to develop among them are Ogbunike cave, Ogbukwu cave, Owellezukala waterfall, Rojenny tourist center, Ogbu guard where we have three ancestral trees joined together, Agulu lake, Ufuma lake and River fall, Ojukwu bunker among others.”
“All this are tourist sites which we tend to develop and we are working hard to develop all of them within a very short time. When developed this sites will be a very good source of revenue for the state. Tourist, fun lovers will visit the state for their relaxation.”
The state governor Chief Willie Obiano, earlier in his speech during the thanksgiving service commended Prof Ken Nwogu for letting the wife serve the people of Anambra state as the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism under his administration. He noted that Barr Nwogu had rendered her services diligently and with great commitment. He called on Ndi Anambra to continue supporting the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) government for more democratic dividend to be achieved.
