LAWMAKEWRS PASS BILL TO ESTABLISH ANAMBRA HOUSING CORPORATION.
The Anambra state House of Assembly has passed a bill for the
adjustment and establishment of Anambra Housing Corporation and other
related matters.
The bill which was initiated by the majority leader and member
representing Anambra West state constituency Hon Jideofor Okoye was
titled "a bill for a law to establish and regulate the operation of
Anambra state housing development corporation and to provide for the
related matters"
Speaking with our reporter Hon Okoye explained that the bill was
necessary because of the need for the development and facilitation of
legislative and institutional framework in the Anambra Housing Sector,
pointing out that it was essential for the house to empower the
corporation for effective service delivery.
The speaker of the Anambra House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mrs Rita Maduagwu
while passing the bill to law explained that the new law would not
only aid Anambra State Housing Corporation in developing and advancing
the state but will also assist the corporation to monitor and check
the construction of illegal buildings, provide shelter in forms of
estate at very reduced rate and as well purvey job opportunity to the
mass.
She added that the Bill must provide for loans and grants of public
money for the construction of dwellings, to establish a housing fund
and a housing board for these purposes.
