Criminality Still Uncontrolled in S/E, S/S - IG

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase,
has revealed that armed robbery,
kidnapping and cultism had remained out of control in the
southern states of Nigeria.


The IGP, made this know in Awka during the security conference tagged
'Security: bedrock of governance' which was
organized by the Governor of Anambra state Chief Willie Obiano for
Delta state and all south eastern states.

Mr Arase who chaired the security conference assured that the police
department would collaborate with chief security officers of the
states in other to ensure maximum security of life and property.

Present at the summit include the Anambra state governor, Chief Willie
Obiano, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of
Enugu and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, as Governor Dave
Umahi of Ebonyi State sent his secretary to the state government,
Professor Bernard Odoh. However, Imo State
governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, was
conspicuously absent.

Others include Director General of the Department of State Service,
DSS ,Hauwal Musa Daura, members of the National Assembly, state
legislators and traditional rulers.

Arase commended Gov Obiano for the initiative to hold a security
summit not for his state alone but also for other states in the zone
with the aim of ensuring that an end was put to all the various forms
of security challenges faced in the zone.

He however applauded the Governor of Anambra state for the efforts he
was making to curb all forms of criminality since he took over the
mantle of leadership of the state, describing Anambra as one of the
most peaceful state in Nigeria
