FRSC ARREST OVER 13000 TRAFFFIC OFFENDERS IN ANAMBRA
The Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) Anambra state command has declared
that it has apprehended 13688 road traffic offenders for different
traffic crimes varying from over speeding, reckless driving and
breaking of traffic rules.

In an interview with newsmen yesterday at the command headquarters, Mr
Sunday Ajayi revealed that between January and June 2015 Anambra state
has recorded 130 road traffic accidents out of which 42 were fatal, 75
were serious while 13 were minors.
He further explained that among the fatal cases, 105 persons lost
their lives and 436 persons were injured making it a total of 541
casualties. He equally noted that the number of road accident
decreased in 2015 but unfortunately more death was recorded even with
the decreased occurrence of accident in 2015.
Mr Ajayi expounded that road accident where caused by over speeding
and reckless driving; noting that the command has been able to
identify some of the major crash prone areas in the state, some of the
areas he mentioned are Government house junction Agu Awka, Unizik
junction Awka, Immigration junction Awka, Unizik gate permanent site

Others are Niger bridge head Onitsha, Boromeo roundabout Onitsha,
Ngbuka gate Onitsha, Upper Iweka Onitsha, Eme court junction Nnewi,
Igbariam junction Nteje, Abba junction and Okija junction in Ihiala.
He advised that road users should be careful while approaching this
accident prone areas in the state in other to reduce the occurrence of
accidents in those areas as well as reaffirmed the commands readiness
in curbing accident occurrence in the state especially as the ember
months are approaching and maintained that the commission will
continue in its campaign to continually educate and enforce road laws
among road users
