The member
of Anambra state House of Assembly representing Anaocha constituency 2 has
commenced the training of over 1000 youths drawn from all the communities in
Anaocha local government area. The Honorable member disclosed that the training
which is focused on fish farming and sports was initiated to empower the youths
of the council area.
Hon Ezeani
while commending the youths for coming out en masse to embrace the empowerment
initiative, revealed that the training will go along way in curbing the rate at
which young people rum the streets of the area. He noted that the program would
not end at just training but also practical guidance and education through the
process of cultivating fish from fingerlings to harvestable size.
Expressing
his readiness to collaborate with the youths in a bid to liberate them from a
life of dependency, the house member disclosed that the program will run for a
period of 3 years in other to fully equip and train the participants.
His words
“the program is an economic empowerment and agricultural production scheme
which is geared towards training and empowering over 1000 youths which cuts
across the entire towns in Anaocha local government area. We have employed the
services of professionals who will put them through this program”
“We have
also moved to acquire a massive land for this and our intention is to create
what we call clusters, this clusters will be done in such a way that all the towns
in Anaocha will have their respective ponds and in that pond they will kick
start from scratch till the point of production this will run for a period of 3
years for them to be fully informed about what fish farming is all about.”
He commended
the efforts of the state government in providing feed meal for fish farmers
even as he encouraged the government to embark on proper training and
retraining of farmers in other to keep them abreast with the revolving nature
of the farming profession.
He said “People
have problems and challenges in agriculture because they have not undergone any
form of training in the area they are facing. The truth of the matter is if you
want to succeed in anything that has to do with agriculture production you must
have to go through serious training and retraining”
