ANAMBRA LAWMAKER CHARGES NDIGBO TO PROTECT THEIR CULTURAL HERITAGE

In a bid to sustain the Igbo culture and tradition a lawmaker in the Anambra state house of assembly has called on the Igbo race to protect and promote the rich heritage of Igbo land passed unto them by their forebearers.

The legislature Hon Paschal Agbodike, representing the people of Ihiala two constituency in the 6th Assembly made this call while addressing newsmen in Awka, Anambra state on the forthcoming new yam festival to be celebrated in Mbosi town.



Hon Paschal stressed the importance of sustaining the Igbo culture and tradition as he used the medium to invite all and sundry to Mbosi in Ihiala Local Government Area for the communities historic new yam festival celebration which would hold on the 12th of September, 2015.

According to him the festival which is aimed at exposing the importance of yam as the king of the crops will be a unique one as the rich cultural heritage of the people will be showcased in its entirety adding that a people without concrete culture, tradition and language are heading for extinction

On the Isseke – Mbosi – Azia – Ukpor road, the lawmaker assured the people of Mbosi of the state government's prompt and adequate attention as he pleaded for patience and promised that more roads in Ihiala two constituency will equally be given attention.

Hon Agbodike used the medium to appreciate Chief Barrister Allen Onyema, Chief Executive Officer Air Peace Airline (ide ndi igbo) for his immense contribution to the development of Mbosi community and specially commended him for always rising to the occasion when the need arises.

The lawmaker noted that the festival will also feature a novelty football competition for both male and female at the Barr Alien Onyema stadium, All Saint Catholic Church Mbosi, a development he said was aimed at encouraging and engaging the youths of the town positively.
