The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has lashed out at those who are in the habit of exempting themselves from participating in the parish's project noting that generous people are firm, committed and faithful to the growth and success of their Parish and always willing to support their Parish Priest.

Bishop Ezeokafor who stated this at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Okpuno Awka South Local Government Area Of Anambra State, during his second visit to the parish used the opportunity to reassure you the parishioners  that God was still on track and will always make you fare better especially when you are reciprocating.

'You cannot deceive God. Shying away from donating in the house of God will do you no good.  Contribute your quota no matter how small. Leaving your parish to attend Mass in another parish simply because of "Project Sunday" to me, is height of irresponsibility and lack of appreciation to God.

'Why not first of all think about what you will do for God before requesting anything from him?
St. Gabriel's parishioners should remain firm, committed and
faithful to the growth and success of their Parish.

'You  should support the Parish Priest. Do something for God. Don't be stingy. The Universal Church don't need non committed and ungenerous people,' Bishop Ezeokafor said.

In his homily which was taken from Holy Gospel according to John (6:14-15), bishop Ezeokafor cautioned Christians against excessive quest for materialism, even as he advised them to rather seek first the Kingdom of God.

He stated that as true Christians, all  should look unto Christ, commune with him and emulate his life style and make heaven their target.

The prelate stressed the need for all to work for and walk with God in order to live a meaningful life.

For the confirmation candidates, Bishop  Ezeokafor admonished them to allow the Holy Spirit which they have received to direct them  in their life,s endeavours, be useful to their families the Church and society.

The Parish Priest of the Church, Rev. Fr. Anthony Nwafor, thanked God for the visit of the Bishop, saying that it will bring a lot of blessings to the parishioners, and commended the Bishop for his support so far.

Bishop Ezeokafor during his visit  administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to about five hundred candidates and also blessed the new father's Rectory.
