ONITSHA MOTOR PARKS TO BE MOVED BY GOVERNMENT

The member representing Ogbaru 1 state constituency Hon Benson Nwawulu has called for the immediate relocation of parks at the Upper Iweka axis by the state government.

The lawmaker made this call yesterday while speaking with newsmen at the Anambra State House of Assembly premises also lamented that existence of the motor parks in the area had caused more harm than good.

Hon Benson condoled with the grieving families who lost their loved ones during the Sunday petro tanker inferno and also sympathized with the government and people of Anambra state for the unfortunate incident which he believed would have been avoided.

“It’s a big calamity and tragedy. It was a black Sunday because it was a black day in Anambra state and I really want to sympathize with the bereaved families who lost their love ones in that fire incident.”

“ I also want to console the Governor Chief Willie Obiano and console the entire people of Anambra state for the lives lost in that inferno, its really unfortunate and I know its something that would have been prevented if we had taken proactive actions to stop it” he said.

Hon Nwawulu further noted that “the Upper Iweka area has been a very dangerous spot in Anambra state. That place is suppose to be a garden and not a motor park”  he equally expressed confidence that the Executive Governor of Anambra state after weeping profusely for the scores of death recorded in the area  would move all parks along the highway in Onitsha to a safer and more convenient  location.

He said “I don’t know why there is park there; those parks should be relocated to a safer place. With the incident that happened on Sunday I think by the grace of God the Government of Anambra state will do something about it because clearly the Governor is not happy. You can see he wept at the site of that incident”

“So I am sure the government will do something urgently to prevent such a tragic incident from befalling the state and the entire nation again.  It’s a big blow to the state” he concluded.
