Anambra Assembly holds valedictory session

The fifth Assembly of the Anambra State House has  passed a total of fifty bills into law within the period of four years.


The speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Princess Chinwe Nwebili stated this today during the valedictory session of the house, said about 73 bills were treated on the floor of the house and about 120 motions were passed, adding that 43 laws were assented by Governor Willie Obiano.

Princess Nwaebili noted that the fifth Assembly brought stability and peace in the course of  their legislative functions and commended the executive arm of government for respecting the legislative arm and working hand-in-hand with them.

While urging the in-coming legislature to cooperate with the executive arm of government , the speaker maintained that the 6th assembly should eschew all forms of impeachment threats and focus on legislations that  would further improve on the peaceful co-existence of the state citizenry . 

She however recognised the contributions of some members like Hon. Tony Oneweek Muonagor who is the minority leader of the house and member representing Idemili-North Constituency, whom she said, sponsored the highest number of motions while Hon. Chito Modestus Ohazulike Tokas has the highest number of attendance during legislative sittings .

In their valedictory speeches, some of the law makers eulogised the speaker of the house and the Clark of the house For the way and manner they carried the affairs of the fifth Assembly
