His Excellency The Governor,
I come to you with a heart filled with confusion and compassion for
the oppressed ,in this instance the Okada and Keke Operators in
Anambara state.
I read a joint press release from the state Ministry of Transport and
Information .Immediately i read that i remember my old woman ,there
are certain stupid thing we will do as boys and she will say "unu na
akpo kwuli kwuli" [i do not know the actual meaning but i am sure it
stands for acting foolishly].
Some of your advisers acts like ndi egbuwara isi to say the least ,how
can they not put in place the PROS AND CONS before they come to you
for some certain moves that will be against the state instead of in
favour or beneficial to the state ?
Do they think this act of banning Motorcycles through before they take
it to you for implementation ? or they had a good night out at KOFI
BAR and after hangover they formulate this myopic and backward policy
and start trying to shove it down our throat ? a throat that is hoarse
with multiple alterations and shoving of things that did not go down
well through the mouth ?.
For instance in Lagos ,Gov Fashola who is leaving the overall sum of 1
Trillion Naira Debt [Local is about 480 Billion naira only] for the
incoming Governor Ambode, tried the act of banning Okada from
Highways in Lagos ,but his came with the act that one gets from
somebody who reason like Fashola .
He banned Okada but approved some China recycled plastic feather
weight ,accident prone ,non durable ,uncomfortable for passengers and
a Toy in appearance Motorcycle which his wife imported ,he announced
it as a replacement for the Normal and durable Okada imported by IGBO
MEN .He sold his wifes own after the banning at 3 times the price of
REAL OKADA .
His reasons were simple ,he wanted to wrestle the business of
importing Okada from the hands of Umuigbo ,though we may pretend all
we want but even fowls and birds of the air know that Fashola hates
Umuigbo with Perfect hatred ,that was why if he is not closing LADIPO
MARKET,OJO ALABA or any other place Ndigbo inhabits ,then he is
banning our line of importations.
First he banned Helmet and his wife imported that in droves and forced
it on all Okada Riders ,then as that experiment went on well ,he moved
over and ban Okada and replace same with the one i mentioned above.
When that is not happening ,he will be rounding up people in Lagos
and deporting same to Upper Iweka at the middle of the night ,but i
digress ,so moving on
My Governor ,there are over 17 MOTORCYCLE ASSEMBLY PLANTS in NNEWI
alone and by implication ,they must have employed over 30,000 workers
give or take ,by clamping down on that industry ,by removing those
Riders that will ply the trade during the day and be tired at night to
dream or plot mischief ,by removing bread from the tables of many of
this men ,i will predict that, it will in few months breed hooliganism
and robbers in our state .
I know some will say that it is not an outright BAN but Sir ,i can
tell you the plain truth as long as it is the Police or ndi Agbero
that are in charge of the enforcement ,i will bet anybody ONE SMOKED
FISH [TRIG POINT OWN ,they do Fish better] and one gallon of Nkwu Enu
OGIDI ,that once this takes effect , the Police and Agboro will enter
even to our Villages and start hijacking Private Okadas from the Farm
,from Houses ,from those going to Market,Farms and Churches.
There is no way the Government will control the out come of the
carnage ,this kind of thing is like Nwoke Nanka ekwelu nkwa police
,his friend promised him that if he can pass his SSCE in 3 years time,
that he will help and enrol him into Police force ,just after the
discussion and his friend left ,the Nanka boy started arresting every
body on sight as a Policeman .
Sir ,this law can only fatten the way ward policemen and ndi Agboro
and the targeted IGR that made the state to thread this path that led
to implosion will be defeated in no time.
Sir,the Press release provided Option of fine ,ranging from 5-10,000
NAIRA ,the truth is that every offender will be more comfortable to
give them half of it on the spot and continue his journey .The overall
implication of this is that ,the state on her quest to generate more
IGR will close down so many businesses of our own ,open flood gate to
VICES that will do more harm to the state and set us back many years
into the wild.
DELTA,ENUGWU,IMO,ABIA,EBONYI can afford to take such risk because they
do not have such assembly plants ,but ANAMBRA is the centre of
MOTORCYCLE ASSEMBLY and NKWO NNEWI is the place to buy your KEKE NADEP
in the entire south East and Sir,if we do not protect our own ,who do
we expect to do such for us ?
I sure remembered during campaign at Nnewi ,you were there when PETER
OBI promised them that the state Government will always support them,
and that as the Governor he will make case for them with other SOUTH
EAST states to stop the Banning of OKADA ,rather that the states
should manage it well ,because obalu isi ,obalu aguba [the Hair and
Clipper work in concert ] Well they Voted for us in block and let,s
not say GERRAOUT instead of saying Thank you to them .
Thank you Sir as you address this matter before it gets to where it
will be said "Mmadu anokwo na ulo".
