Anglican Communion Diocese of Aguata rising from a Synod yesterday
urged the president elect, Gen. Mohammad Buhari (Rtd) to appoint
capable hands in his cabinet.
They urged Buhari to look beyond party boundaries in search of such personnel.
According to 11-point communiqué issued at the end of the synod, the
church also urged the president elect to endeavour to fulfill his
campaign promises to Nigerians.
The communiqué which was endorsed by the Dean Church of Nigeria,
Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Christian Efobi, the Synod clerical
secretary, Ven. Steve Nnadi and the chancellor of Aguata Diocese Sir
Harford Ejim, decried the pre election acrimony as well as the pockets
of violence recorded during polls.
The synod commended the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by the
outgoing president, Goodluck Jonathan by conceded defeat in the March
28, presidential elections.
The synod which had its theme as "Behold to Obey is better than
Sacrifice" commended the Nigerian military for its successes in the
onslaught against the Boko-Haram insurgents.
It called on the federal government to sustain the tempo in order to
enable them deal with insecurity in a more coordinated and sustained
manner.
The synod also commended Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano on
security and ongoing projects in the state
The church noted with concern the incessant judicial workers' strike
across the country and on governments both at the federal and state
level to address their grievance in order to restore the confidence of
the common man in the judicial process.
The synod also condemned the xenophobic attacks in South Africa,
adding that the federal government should seek ways of protecting
Nigerian citizens living in foreign countries. #
