The Anambra House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed the appointment of 5 commissioner nominees out of 6 names requested by Governor Willie Obiano
The confirmation was announced by the speaker, who was represented by the deputy speaker, Hon Prince Orizu after a thorough screening.
www.theagenews.blogspot.com gathered that 6 names was presented to the house for confirmation by the state governor but on account of age disparity of one nominee Mr Mark Okoye his confirmation was rescheduled for a later date.
Hon Chugbo Enwezor member representing Onitsha north 1 state constituency elucidated that going by the constitution of Nigeria it was mandatory that an individual must attain the age of 30 years before being considered qualified for an appointment.
He thereby moved a motion that the speaker discontinue temporarily the confirmation of Mr Mark Okoye until he attains the age 30 as Hon Ebele Obi seconded the motion.

After a heated argument and deliberation the speaker Hon Prince Orizu resolved to confirm 5 nominees and have Mr Mark Okoye confirmed on a later date after he most have attain the required age.
The 5 nominees confirmed by the house during Thursday plenary are Mr Frank Offor (Ogbunka), Afam Mbanefo (Nnewi north, and Mrs Uju Nwogu (Adazi nnukwu).

Speaking to news men after the confirmation Mr Mark Okoye who looked rather elated established that he was delighted that at the end of the day the constitution was not contravened
"I am a well meaning citizen of Nigeria, constitutionally you ought to be 30 years at swearing in and confirmation and I'm few days to that landmark achievement.
"So the decision of the house is a matter of protecting the government, at the appropriate time I will be called and confirmed, then the Governor can swear me in. What happened in the house is excellent and constitutional". He averred
Dr Uju Nwogu and Barr Gladys Iloebi in their separate remark thanked the Governor for finding them worthy of the appointment. They reassured Governor Willie Obiano of their loyalty and promised to work diligently in their different ministries to facilitate the implementation of the governors vision for the state.
