Internal democracy will strengthen Nigerian polity – Ezeemo


Ihiala (Anambra) Jan. 26, 2016 Mr Godwin Ezeemo,  publisher, Orient Daily Newspaper, said internal democracy in Nigerian polity will strengthen democratic structures in place if the nation hunger for democratic dividend as enjoyed in civilised countries.

Ezeemo made the assertion in Eziani Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra on Tuesday during the burial rites of his mother in- law Mrs Theresa Oguanobi.

He said that adherence to principles of internal democracy
Will enshrine core values of democratic structures in the society thereby building up the true  value of good polity.

"Agenda , discipline, patriotism, accountability  among other virtue of living in line of democratic stance would be easily achieved, all bickering and politic of bitterness and must win will fade away , the egg heads would always come up  for service and not amassing of wealth from candidates who  know little or  nothing  about leadership.

He said that it would be nice if the bodies in charge of electoral process devises a means to inculcate internal democracy in the polity as its benefits overpass its demerits .

He said that since his mother Mrs Charity Ezeemo died he had found a mother in his mother in law and wondered where he will find a replacement .

" I would continue to feel the vacuum created by the demise of my mother in-law, Okwesilieze who  is being committed to mother earth today .

" My mother in-law took me as his son treats me as his biological son , she counsels me any time they need arises and runs helter-skelter in an attempt to prepare food for me  each time I visited in Ihiala.

Ezeemo said the philanthropic disposition of his mother-in-law partly influenced his desire and resolve to dedicate his life for service to humanity

He said  that his late mother in-law had for a long time devoted her life to philanthropy which he also cherished as an in-law

He said that  Nigerians should  emulate good virtues of people who lived a good life, adding that the purpose of life on earth was to serve God and humanity through various endeavors,

The guests and sympathizers from different walks of life paid their last respect to the fallen icon and were all treated to various forms of entertainment by various dance troupes While foods and drinks of various varieties were also served at the event

Among those that attended the burial were,Dr Nkem Okeke , Anambra Deputy Governor, Chief Peter Obi former Anambra governor, Dame Virgy Etiabe former Anambra governor, media houses representatives ,traditional rulers, business gurus among other

Anambra state Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ)  executives, led by its Chairman, Mr Emma Ifesinachi,was present to sympathise with  Ezeemo
