It was a joyous moment at the weekend as Mr Kenechukwu Ofoma of the News and Current Affairs Department, ABS, took his hearthob, Miss Mmachukwu Gloria Aforka, to the altar to tie the nupticol knot at Saint Mary’s Anglican Church Nodu-Okpuno, Awka South Council Area.
Amaka Chibuzor Okoye reports that the solemnization of the holy matrimony which started with the bridal march came to a climax when the couple exchanged rings.
In a sermon, the Vicar of the church, Reverend Clement Nzegbu, said that those who seek God’s face before going into marriage find suitable helpers, stating that every good marriage is figured out by God.
Reverend Nzegbu advised the bride to be submissive to her husband as to win his heart, while Kenechukwu should love his wife as Jesus loved his church, , urging the couple to pray always for God to sustain their union.
Speaking during the reception and traditional marriage of the couple, a former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism Chief Maja Umeh and a former Commissioner for Lands, Mr John Okoli-Akirika, described Kenechukwu as humble, intelligent and hard working, expressing confidence that the couple will live happily.
They advised the couple to always be open to each other for an enduring marriage.
The Director News and Current Affairs ABS, Mr Gabriel Okpalaeze, reminded Mr and Mrs Kenechukwu Ofomah that marriage has a lot of challenges but with God as their corner stone, they would surmount all of them.
He also urged them to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness for each other’s wrongdoings.
The parents of the couple Sir and Lady Bernard Aforka and Mr and Mrs Ofomah expressed joy for the union, urging them to love each other and prayed God to bless their marriage.
In appreciation, Mr Kenechukwu Ofoma thanked God for giving him the grace to choose his rightful life partner. Exchange of wedding rings, cutting of cake, traditional wine carrying and other side attractions, formed the high points of the event.
