Gov Obiano Pardons 25 Convicted Prisoners (photos)

The governor of Anambra state His Excellency Chief Willie Obiano has granted amnesty to 25 prisoners serving different jail terms at the various prison facilities in the state.
The governor who announced their freedom during an event to mark the 55th independence day anniversary of Nigeria said the prisoners had been monitored, trained and disciplined before they were freed. He was optimistic that the convict when released will embrace peace and avoid any form of activity that is capable of putting them behind bars again.
Gov Obiano equally announce a donation of 1million naira grant to each of the ex convict as a start up capital after they must have undergone a compulsory skill acquisition training in any of the state owned vocational institution. He said the program will be overseen by the ministry of education
The Director Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) Mrs Appolonia Chukwuma thanked Gov. Obiano for restoring life to the convicts as he advised the pardoned prisoners to shun crime and other illegal activities and remain good law abiding citizens of the state.
Earlier the governor in his independent day speech presented before Ndi Anambra at Ekwueme Square expressed hope in the continued existence of the country despite the various challenges, especially the insurgence facing the nation and noted that since the country did not break up during the civil war, the country would certainly survive any other threat to its corporate existence
