GOVERNOR OBIANO MARKS WORLD RED CROSS DAY. (PHOTOS)

 The Executive governor of Anambra state chief willie obiano, yesterday
marked the 67th World Red Cross Day in Awka.


The governor who was represented by the Honorable commissioner for
health, Dr Joe Akubuike commended the Anambra state branch of the
Nigerian Red Cross Society for their selfless service to Ndi Anambra
and reassured that the government will continue to partner with the
 organization in safe guarding the life's of the people.

The governor expressed his appreciation to the organization for the
role they played during the cholera outbreak in some part of the state.

"Our government will work with you so as to preserve the life's of our
people. We encourage you to work harder do not be discouraged by the
challenges you may face with your work as you render selfless service
to humanity.

"Red cross played a very important role during the cholera outbreak in
some river line areas of the state and also during the Ebola epidemic
in Nigeria among other crucial emergency disasters,so the government
have decided to work with you." He affirmed

The governors commitment to improve the life's of Ndi Anambra is
evident in the on going transformation of general hospitals and also the improvement
of all the primary health care centers in the state he further revealed.

In his message the state chairman of Nigerian Red Cross Society
Anambra state chapter, Hon Justice P. A Obidigwe who was represented
by the vice chairman Prof Peter Emeka Katchy commended the people of
Anambra state for their support and cooperation with the society at
all time and during disaster emergencies.

"Red cross is highly indebted to the people of Anambra state" he said

He further explained that red cross had responded to over 65 major
emergency disasters in the state within the last one year.

The theme of the celebration "seven fundamental principles" was
explained to be the core objectives of the red cross society. They are
as follow: Humanity Impartiality Neutrality Independence Voluntary
service Unity and Universality.
