Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has alleged that his
predecessor in office, Mr. Peter Obi has been accusing him falsely of
tarnishing his image since he left office among other sundry
accusations and thereby uses his Media Aide, Mr. Valentine Obienyem to
denigrate his office.
At a briefing in Awka through his Senior Special Assistant (SSA)
Media, Mr. James Eze, Thursday, Obiano took exception to a situation
whereby for every little thing done by a citizen of the state outside
the office of the Governor but in which the person or group may have
made reference to the person of Obi is said to have been instigated by
the governor.
A case in point, Eze said, was a protest organized by an amalgam of
youth organizations in the state who protested the outcome of the
March 28 National Assembly elections in the cities of Onitsha, Awka
and Nnewi Wednesday which Obienyem attributed to Obiano,
Obiano insisted that by that actions,Obi was instigating crisis in the
state he presides over as its chief security officer. 'We are
horrified that what has been a silent proxy war launched by the
shadowy agents of former Governor Obi on the social media against
Governor Obiano has finally taken a bold physical shape with Mr.
Valentine Obienyem, his Media Aide directly accusing Obiano of
instigating crisis in the state he presides”, he said.
He said it was wrong to drag the name of the Governor into a
demonstration by aggrieved Igbo youth, who registered their complaints
over the March 28, National Assembly elections in the state.
'We are embarrassed that the Obi camp has shown scant respect for the
office of the Governor of Anambra state which he occupied for 8 years
and enjoyed the high regard associated with it.
